Walk, Walk, Fashion baby

So if you didn't know there is an event called fashion week for 2015 spring collections going on right now and it is currently been the center of attention since this morning. (see more here) Sorry for the lack of pictures of my actual fashion, I am trying to train my sister to take pictures of me... Any way back to fashion week I will do coverage of EVERY DAY this week of the collections including links to articles and bios of the designers.  Here is a link to the schedule for New York and it has the rest of the fashion week schedules if you are interested.  But there are way more shows than just that and I will only post my favorites.

So first up things from WEDNESDAY  (thank you style.com for keeping me organized)

Looking thought the collections I have not been loving a lot of them because there is *ahem(uses theater teacher voice) no DRRAAAMMMAAA* which is probably because it was more focused on being commercialized and sold in stores.  Which I mean I understand but I want to view a collection that takes your breath away and go "I want to wear that NOW"

Okay my favorites from Wednesday have been whittled down to three every thing is in earth tones and look depressing as all get out, blah, but these collections are actually really fun.  (This is also my first fashion week that I have actually followed so bare with me here).

First up is Red Valentino which has only been going since 2012 but seems to be tailored for a more teenage audience and the quirkiness of the cloths shows.  Here take a look.  These are some of my favorite looks from the collection:

Next up is M Missoni spring collection inspired by Frida Kahlo (which in fashion is more common then you think) but what I love about this collection is its subtle references to her work and the colors which are just brilliant.  I also has an ease to it and best of all PLATFORM ESPADRILLES.

Gary Graham described this next collection as "Anne of Green Gables meets Joy Division"  I just love it sooooo much....Take a look...the layers the coats the everything gahhh

The next collection is by Richard Chai Love and it his 10th anniversary of his label which is kind of cool! (I guess he also did something for target?  This collection is a unique mix of men's and women's wear in bold colors and angles which bring about a very laid back/over the top look.

Another favorite was Creatures of Comfort  and the amazing cactus prints.  This collection has a very preppy feel to it while also being kind of over sized I want one of the sweaters so badly...

 I will post more tomorrow!

Judy Jetson had a punk phase

This post is brought to you buy oncoming rain and teenage angst.

But in all seriousness I am so happy to post this with fashion week coming to an end and me needing to review all of the shows to post about my favorites...oh! And my half assed job at under eye winged liner.  I was really gross from all the humidity that has happening so sorry about the highly edited photos....my photograph is working on getting better are taking photos and I am just...awkward...yeah that's the word.

Any ways I love this outfit and it took the longest time to find a good shirt for it, but I have to get better shoes (they are my only pair of heals and they are just ok.  Background on this outfit, the shirt was a birthday present and I can only remember the brand, the skirt is my best friends on permanent loan, and the shoes are to old to remember but I think I got them on sale for only $7...but don't quote me on that.

Happy, Happy Birthday

Ok so this was supposed to go up a few days ago but I guess it has been sitting in my drafts (oops) I celebrated by watching Pretty in Pink and Electrick Children which I loved every moment of both.  I also got the September issue of Vogue, some eyeliner that I am not very happy with and some eye shadow that works just alright.  Unfortunitly I don't have any sources on the pictures *sigh* tumblr issues/trying to figure out my new computer.  And last one was a picture of me because no one around me can take a decent picture of another human and I looked like a very glamorus hobo with the jacket that I have.

hair goals//book club//blogiversary

SO...Some how I have survive the dreaded back to school and I have actually  been pretty proud of my outfits (sorry I don't have pictures).  My hair has been doing some pretty interesting things and thought to document it before it goes back to being pin straight.  Also I really want to dye my hair a red variant of magenta (sort of like Krystle's amazing hair here).  Tomorrow is also the blogs first birthday and I am want to post something special but I don't quite know yet....hmmm

OK down to the real reason I am posting
Books
I really love them so once a month I want to post about a book that has changed the way I dress and how I interact with fashion. So this book caught my eye a few years ago and from that point it has made me more aware of our impact of buying what they refer to as "Glad rags".  What they mean bye glad rags is clothing from any outlet store that we buy for the sake of buying, which is unfortunately the sort of society that we live in.  The intro is written by Dame Vivienne Westwood (yes you heard me correctly) and then goes into the author's year of not buying clothing and how she actually rediscovered herself and actually got more opportunities to interview people from it (she is a Swedish fashion journalist).  It also has a few pages of studies about the impact of the fashion industry and consumerism that are pretty cool.  My favorite part of the book is the fact that they have DIY's done by people who really understand their personal fashion and are not afraid to show it off.  Over all it has made me a more self aware consumer and know really strive to by unique pieces or fill in where my wardrobe might be missing (like brown leggings right now...then I could show off this really cool skirt I have...)

Any way I hope you have enjoyed this book review//suggestion!!

summer has come and passed

Today's blog post has been brought to you by stress.  So I have been mostly  listening to bikini kill, lana del ray, and Lorde  (in my opinion the holy trinity of end of summer/teenage melodrama/back to school denial).

Been doing pretty typical end of the year things like writing papers and generally ignoring the outside world for the sake of AP Comp...I hope this class is worth it. Anyway I went to the fair recently and took some pictures, along with some stupid selfies and a very creepy picture of my brother.

Shadows// Bikini kill// me// letters to friends// bikini kill//selfie 1//selfie 2// unknown// zzzzzippper// Longmont// another picture by me

This will get you though the end of the summer, I promise

Current mood...board

1. Photo of my current shrine on my book shelf// 2. Thom Browne ss 2014 collection// 3. Beauty and the beast gif //4. photo of the flowers outside my house// 5.  Flower crown

I am just ignoring the fact that school starts so soon by any means possible, including cleaning (it's gotten that bad).  I am in a weird mood, this summer hasn't been extremely productive and I know I am supposed to be doing teenagery things etc. etc. but it just seems to be going by quickly (my entire teenage existence) and I don't know if other people feel the same way that I do or it's just me.  That is probably one of the main reasons I got back to this blog is to catalogue everything I feel day by day and month by month because my memory sucks to say the least.

Any way I made a shrine late last night while also completely drooling at Thom Browne's spring womens collection for 2014 and thinking about flowers and the upcoming Autumn.  In New England the Fall is all about endings (summer) and beginnings (school) (even more so about beginnings and endings than spring, spring is just wet and filled with slush from the winter) so I think it is appropriate to wear floral prints and darker colors together.

stress, green lips, flea markets, and the impending doom of school

So this is know my blog...Kyra has decided to make her own so that she can post when ever she wants/ have more say when things are posted. (that is probably why it took a year to post stuff).  Anyway the dress that I was originally going to wear got foundation on it while I was doing my makeup and this was a last minute outfit choice but you know what, it works.

So back to more fashion-y type things this is what I am thinking of wearing the first day of school, we have a weird policy that you can't wear sleeveless tops unless three fingers can fit on the strap/ no head scarves or anything you can put on your head/ and no leggings...but mostly everyone ignores this and I try to bend the rules as much as I can.

It was unfortunately a bit a bit sunny today but the pictures came out fine, I just kind of stressed for school and such but the green lipstick helps and so does this top that I got for two dollars from a town wide flea market.
